Fri 7 September: "THE MARKS OF MANLINESS" MENS EVENING
INFORMATION
NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED
JUST TURN UP WITH YOURSELF AND YOUR BIBLE! ABOUT THIS EVENT
"The Marks of Manliness" is an evening of fellowship and encouragement from the Word of God for men who desire to grow in godliness. All men/sons welcome. We are living in a time when much like in King David's day, there is a significant lack of godly men in our churches, and in our communities. Like David cried out in Psalm 12:1, we too may sometimes say, "Help Lord, for the godly man ceases!". Come along and join other brothers to be encouraged from the Word of God, to have a great time of fellowship, and to invest in your walk with the Lord. It really is true that God takes 'ordinary' men, and uses them to achieve His plans and purpose, and bring Him much glory - when we are willing. THE SCHEDULE
Friday 7 September 2018 - Riccarton Baptist Church 7:00pm - 7:15pm - Intro / Worship 7:15pm - 8:30pm - Teaching Session / Q & A 8:30pm - Fellowship / Refreshments THE LOCATION
The conference will be held at Riccarton Baptist Church, 80 Rattray Street, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch (please note the conference is not being organised by Riccarton Baptist so please don't phone their office for enquiries - contact us for any info you may require and we will be happy to assist you). See below for a map of the location.
OUR SPEAKER
Many of you will remember Pastor Craig Houston from last year's ENGAGE conference. We're excited to have Craig back with us this year. [From Craig's Church Website] Craig Houston has served as the pastor of Westside Baptist Church since 2002. Born and raised in Astoria, Oregon, he was privileged to grow up in a fourth generation Christian home. Saved and baptized at an early age, he surrendered to preach the gospel at the age of 19. A graduate of Bayview Baptist Bible Institute and Sound Baptist Bible College, he was ordained to the Gospel ministry in 1997 and sent out as a church planter in Oregon the following year. He married his sweetheart, Emily, in 1994 and the Lord has blessed them with fourteen children; Naomi & Lucas Champ, Anna & Derek Hase, Samuel, Daniel, Nathanael, Michael, Julia, Lydia, Abigail, Ezekiel, Selah, Tirzah, Lemuel, and Gabriel and one precious granddaughter, Edith Champ. Pastor Houston has a heart and passion for expository preaching, reaching the lost and restoring the Christian home. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and drinking good coffee. |
Sat 8 September: THE "RAISING DANGEROUS CHILDREN" CONFERENCE
INFORMATION
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
"Raising Dangerous Children" is a one-day conference to help encourage & equip parents in raising godly children who will make an impact for Christ in this world. God has not called Christian parents to raise children that are safe, He has called us to raise children that are dangerous. Children that will be, in the words of the Psalmist, “arrows for God” - spiritual weapons for the advancement of Christ and His Kingdom. Parent’s have a vital role in this forward advancement, in fact they are called to the work of the fletcher (maker of arrows). This work requires dedication, discipline, perspiration, patience, and humility as you seek to nurture and train up the next generation of children that will be razor sharp, unbreakable, balanced, and ready to make an impact as dangerous weapons in God’s arsenal. God’s call on the life of parents, is not merely to raise children and then hope everything goes well when they turn eighteen. We must have a greater vision for the children God has given us. That doesn't mean that they are to be launched into doing what we pick for them, but rather as the maker of the arrow you should desire to know each of your children’s strengths and weaknesses and seek to launch them in a direction that they desire to make the greatest impact. Like an archer getting ready to go into battle, Nock, Draw, Aim, and Release…..Don’t Just Let Go. THE SCHEDULE
